University life resembles theater at times.
Whether that theater is tragedy, comedy or musical depends on the day and the room.
Somehow, though, I’d never thought of a State of the University Address as a performance.
Now that my interest is piqued, I can’t help but wonder just how the chancellor will perform her speech.
As an opera, perhaps? With a touch of Shakespeare? As a magic act?
While we’re waiting to find out, we can ponder the consequences of word choice.
But keep this in mind: All the world’s a page, and all the writers and editors merely word slayers. They have their nouns and their verbs, and one writer in his time has many bad starts.
